Excellent Camera
I am an amateur albeit avid photographer. My first DSLR was the Nikon D5000 which I had for about six months before upgrading to the D90. The difference is night and day. The D90 is such a superbly built machine. It is so simple to take good pictures with this camera and the controls are laid out in a very functional manner. I have nothing but good things to say about the D90. Since I use a Nikon SB600 external flash I routinely get ~ 1 300 photos on a single battery charge. The in-camera editing features are very helpful too. Before purchasing the D90 I read several online professional reviews. One reviewer rated this equal to and in some cases superior to the much more expensive D300. Buy this camera! You wont be disappointed.

Disappointed But Still A Nikon Fan
For the most part the camera is excellent. My disappointment came when it broke after only around 1k shots around six months after purchase. I bought a used D100 a few years back its like a tank and never had any problems with it. The D90 being new was babied a bit. While on vaction it made a loud pop and stopped working leaving me with a cell phone for pictures. The good news is that all repairs were covered under waranty and in less than two weeks I had my camera back. Just goes to show… like most everything now… They Just dont Buildem Like yhey Used To

Worth paying 4 its Superb clarity! ..
Pros: Great picture quality. Lightweight and small. Easy menu navigation. My Menu settings are wonderful. Good price. Cons: Wish it had a 3 LCD on the back but I cant complain too much about that. There are some menu items that dont allow you to use all four directional buttons but that is hardly anything to blink an eye at. Summary: This is great camera. It has to be one of the better dollar for dollar DSLR cameras out there. For anyone who is a semi-serious amateur photographer you simply can not go wrong here. The question becomes if you want to chalk up the extra $200 for the XSI. I personally do not think it is worth it. The only major differences is a jump from 10 megapixels to 12 and a 3 LCD instead of the 2.5. Personally I would rather put that money toward a nice lens. This is not the greatest camera out there but that means you are not paying large amounts either. I have nothing bad to say about it so far. It is easy to use and it is a great value. If you are thinking about getting into the world of the DSLR then strongly consider this camera. I would also strongly suggest that you purchase some sort of handbook on how to get the most out of your camera. As a side note I also strongly suggest that you lean towards Canon when deciding on a DSLR. I say this because I believe that Canon makes the best lenses out there. I know that some lenses are compatible with separate brands but it just makes sense to work with the same brand.

I use this camera for taking product shots for my business as well as for personal photos and it works great for both. The battery life is excellent compared to past cameras I have owned. The included lens does well with close ups and distance shots. Perfect for someone who has a bit of training in photography and wants to make their first step up to a digital SLR.
